John Boorman visits the home of Garech Browne ('custodian of Luggala'), where Irish poet John Montague reads from his poem 'Luggala' written about Garech and his surroundings.

Boorman also visits one of the last fragments of ancient oak forest left in Europe. He finds the tree he used for stringing up the Knights of King Arthur in Excalibur.

Travelling from Ireland to Sydney across three continents, using various modes of transport! gondolas, classic cars, racing yachts, elephants and camels.

Charley finally arriving in Sydney on Tuesday 22nd of july, accompanied by 300-400 other bikers to complete the journey.

Motorcycle adventurer Charley Boorman is planning a new round-the-world journey for TV -- and he wants MCN readers to join him on the first leg. By Any Means will take Boorman to Sydney, Australia using transport "appropriate to each country" on the way.

To join Boorman -- and be part of the TV show to be aired on BBC 2 in the autumn -- all you need to do is turn up at Coventry Transport Museum, Millennium Place, Hales Street, CV11PN, on April 15. Organisers have yet to confirm the exact meeting time so keep checking MCN for updates.

Charley's last trip, Long Way Down, will be aired on National Geographic in July, including two-and-a-half hours of previously unseen footage.

Three months, fifteen thousand miles, and two continents covering some of the world's most inhospitable terrains by motorcycle may have smacked of the impossible. But Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have just completed this epic journey. Travelling the Long Way Down through Europe and Africa, the pair have defied the elements, crossing the finishing line today in Cape Town, South Africa.

Since those first miles in May 2007 in John O'Groats, Scotland, they have ridden through twenty countries, including Libya, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Rwanda. They have encountered and negotiated blinding sandstorms, searing temperatures, dodgy border crossings and extreme riding conditions.

In the struggle to keep on schedule, staying on course and staying in touch has been essential and Nokia has played a pivotal role providing the Nokia 6110 for GPS navigation, map checking, web searches, documenting video, and those all important calls back home.

The Long Way Down has been an amazing journey and it has been a real privilege to be able to experience these diverse and beautiful places. We've had the opportunity to see such different ways of life to ours and have travelled to remote places very few people have access to. The sense of freedom and exploration has been incredible." says Ewan.

"We were both up for an adventure and Africa has certainly given us that," says Charley. "There have been times when it has been unbelievably hard going but that has been countered by amazing riding and extraordinary people. Africa is a country full of undiscovered wonder and we both feel incredibly lucky we've been able to experience this together and to have survived with some brilliant stories to tell."

Ewan and Charley have been accompanied during the trip by a camera operator and both have worn cameras fitted to their helmets to capture the trip from the rider's perspective. The pair have supported UNICEF, CHAS and Riders for Health on their travels.

They have just arrived at Cape Agulhas and have had breakfast in the Cape Agulhas lighthouse. They did a meet and greet with all the well wishers that turned up including signing autographs, having their pictures taken and chatting to everyone. Both they and all the team were very gratious and it was a tremendous experience to be a small part of their trip. After they left Cape Agulhas they made their way to Cape town with a large convoy of bikes and myself in my hire car. As far as I know I was the only brit to travel there and meet the convoy but if you know any different, please let me know.
