Whispered words beneath the floating autumn leaves
Flying softly on the southern breeze
Fragments of light between the branches and trees
I wish I would stay here forever
The sun is sinking behind mountains of old
Brushing faintly clouds of red and gold
Night-time's flinging a vast veil of velvet across fields and forest
Trespassing the havens of daylight's temporary borders.
I knew my game could gain me but grief, the fairy tale was on though brief
Trespassing the havens of secrecy's temporary borders.
Scratching the surface of times seemingly forgotten
Of you who once were mine betrothen
Digging 'neath layers of emotions now rotten
I feel myself slip away
Nostalgic entertainment tingled by the past
You were the one to be mine at last
But now my memory's ever fading so fast
Keeping emotions at bay
Here I sit, and memories unfold
My feelings are hollow, I'm feeling so old
[Female]
"I feel it fade away and cry tears in solitude"
Trespassing the havens of night-time's temporary borders
As shadows collapse in the mating of day and night, crows are circling in
ominous flight
Trespassing the havens of my own temporary borders (temporary borders)
[Solo]
I tried... I tried hard to believe
Thinking of us has left me but grief
I cannot look ahead, the past is all I see
Moments together, but time's a thief
Shadows recurring from times long since passed
Our time and now in a perfect contrast
[Female]
"As I see you sitting by my grave
I feel your presence, but can't say a word
Your heart and love, patient and brave
But my soul is too late for you to save"
I am probably a fool still thinking of you
Night after night...
There's not much else I can do
For neither myself nor you
Maybe I should leave and never come back to this place...
But I know too surely that I'm only fooling myself
I'm only fooling myself

The Siachen Glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalaya Mountains along the disputed India-Pakistan border at approximately 35.5° N 77.0° E. It is the longest glacier in the Karakoram and second longest in the world's non-polar areas.[1] It ranges from an altitude of 5,753 m (18,875 ft) above sea level at its source at Indira Col (pass) on the China border to its snout at 3,620 m (11,875 ft)
The Siachen Glacier lies south of the great watershed that separates China from the Indian subcontinent in the extensively glaciated portion of the Karakoram that is sometimes called the "Third Pole." The 70 km (43.5 mile) long Siachen glacier lies between the Saltoro Ridge line immediately to the west and the main Karakoram range to the east. The Saltoro Ridge originates in the north from the Sia Kangri peak on the China border in the Karakoram range. The crest of the Saltoro Ridge's altitudes range from 5,450 to 7,720 m (17,880 to 25,330 feet). The major passes on this ridge are, from north to south, Sia La at 5,589 m (18,336 ft), Bilafond La at 5,450 m (17,880 ft), and Gyong La at 5,689 m (18,665 ft) The average winter snowfall is 10.5 m (35 ft) and temperatures can dip to -50 degrees Celsius (-58 degrees Fahrenheit).

Under the inexorable logic of the five year plans, the Soviet Union had been marching awkwardly to war for more than a decade.
The Nazi - Soviet Non - Aggression Pact of 1939 had enabled these two countries to dismember Poland, aligning their borders, and establishing their armies in close and uneasy proximity along a five hundred mile frontier.
In secret codicils to the pact, Hitler and Stalin had agreed to the division of Europe into two great power blocks, separated by a line drawn between the Baltic and the Black Sea.
While Hitler consolidated his power in the West by force or by diplomacy, Stalin, in the East did likewise, seizing the Baltic republics of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and invading Finland and Rumania.
In contrast to Hitler's stunning victories in the West Russian efforts to subdue resistant nations were fraught by material inadequacies in arms and equipment, and hamstrung by a military and tactical incompetence, permeating through every echelon of the Red Army.
Believing in the inevitability of war between Russia and Germany, Hitler determined to strike before the immense reserves of Russia in people and resources could be sufficiently marshalled to overhaul the German advantage in Technology and tactics. The attack was to be launched on June 22nd, 1941.
For Hitler, the invasion of Russia was to be the culmination of his most enduring obsession, the destruction of Bolshevism and the establishment of the Thousand Year Reich, an entity that was to stretch from the Atlantic Ocean to the Ural Mountains of Asia.
Like earlier invaders of Russia, the Germans knew that success hinged upon destroying the Russia Army before it could withdraw into the vast and inhospitable hinterlands of the East.
Four Panzer Armies spearheaded a force of more than three million men. The German strategy was no different from those employed in Poland or in France, only immensely greater in scale. As the armoured spearheads knifed through the Soviet fronts , the infantry advanced in a relentless onslaught of fighting and marching.
Though numerically superior to the Wehrmacht, the plight of the Red Army could hardly have been worse. Most of its equipment was obsolete. Its office corps had been decimated in the purges of the l930s. And it carried the burden of a rigidly enforced and inflexable ideology, stifling initiative, and deterring any independence of action.
Against such a force as this, Hitler had assured his commanders, the cruel logic of National Socialism would meet little serious resistance. In the first weeks of the campaign in Russia events appeared to confirm the truth of this prediction. Hundreds of thousands of prisoners were taken. Vast amounts of war equipment was captured or destroyed. Everywhere the grey tide of the Wehrmacht advanced, it advanced through chaos and capitulation. Soviet fronts collapsed almost as soon as they were formed.
The nation state of Poland, on the Eastern borders of Germany, had emerged periodically through the mists of European history, but never once in the same place as before.
The resurrection of Poland, under the terms of the treaty of Versailles, in 1919, had awarded that country a corridor of land, connecting Poland to the Baltic, and giving control to Poland of the ancient German seaport of Danzig. The Polish corridor effectively cut Germany in two.
Throughout the interwar years, conflicts between Poles and Germans in the corridor led to increasing polarisation, and by 1933 an indigenous Nazi Party in Danzig had gained control of the city, and begun agitation for reincorporation with Germany.
By the Spring of 1939 Hitler felt strong enough to demand the return of Danzig, and access through the corridor for road and rail communications with Danzig and East Prussia, but any justice behind these demands had been undermined by his occupation of Prague and the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia.
Incensed at what they regarded as a betrayal of the agreements of Munich, the British and French extended guarantees to Poland, and urged Hitler to solve the matter by negotiation.
On August 23rd, the Nazi - Soviet Non - Aggression Pact was signed in Moscow effectively concluding Hitler s negotiations, and signalling the death knell for Poland. In its secret clauses the Pact provide, not only for the division of Poland between these two powers for the fourth time in its history, but outlined general agreements for a division of Europe from the Baltic to the Black Sea.
As the German armies mobilised along the frontier, Britain dramatically converted her guarantees to Poland into a formal alliance, thus ensuring the inevitability of a European War.
The invasion of Poland began at dawn on September 1st 1939. While the German armies crossed the Polish border, the Luftwaffe began a co-ordinated air offensive against both strategic and civilian targets in Poland.
The attack on Poland had been in planning for several months, but the German strategy for the invasion had been in development for much longer. Although the German and Polish armies were numerically nearly equal, technologically and tactically they were light years apart.
Throughout the l920s and 30s the Germans had evolved a theory of aggressive warfare, which placed the emphasis on rapid armoured advances supported by air attacks. Against ten armoured German divisions, the Poles could field only one armoured brigade, the bulk of their mobile forces being cavalry divisions. Their artillery also was both antiquated and sparse.
But it was in the air that the Germans had complete supremacy. Most of the two thousand German aircraft deployed over Poland were modern specialist weapons. In the Messerschmitt 109, the Luftwaffe possessed the best fighter aircraft in the world. The twin engined Messerschmitt 110 could be used equally effectively as a fighter or as a bomber. The Junkers 87 or Stuka mounted sirens which made its effectiveness as a divebomber all the greater for its power to confuse and panic the enemy ainst columns of marching troops or refugees, the screaming Stuka was to prove a formidable weapon.
The Polish airforce on the other hand comprised some seven hundred planes, most of which were obsolete, the rest unquestionably inferior to those of the Luftwaffe. Its command and communications structures were woefully inadequate. In the first few days of the attack the Polish airforce was completely wiped out.
The campaign in Poland was a war of movement. No front formed for more than a few hours. The attack had been launched across the Northern, Western and Southern borders of Poland. In the West the German armies knifed through the Polish front in powerfully concentrated spearheads.
From the North and South the German attacks were intended to encircle the Polish forces and prevent them from retreating and regrouping.
Everywhere the Luftwaffe attacked remorselessly disrupting communications and supply lines. Attacking ahead of the army, the tactical bombers of the Luftwaffe performed the role of a highly accurate airborne artillery.

The EU's coordinated patrols in the Mediterranean, aimed at deterring illegal immigration, ended on Sunday 14th Oct., 2007.
Operation Nautilus II had been running for more than a month in its second phase this summer, coordinated by the EU's border control agency.
"We can confirm that Nautilus II stopped last Sunday as planned," a European Commission source told The Times yesterday. "We believe the illegal migration 'season' is almost over and, thus, there is no need for this mission to continue, at least for this year."
The patrols were conducted over a four-month period divided into two phases. The Sicily-Malta-Libya strait was first patrolled for the full month of July. After a controversial pause in August, the mission resumed on September 10, 2007.
Apart from the Armed Forces of Malta, the mission also attracted the participation of naval and aerial assets from France, Germany, Portugal, Greece and Spain, although at different levels.
During the first phase, Italy had sent a small aircraft as a token participation. However, following a change of heart, it had decided to boost its participation in the second part of the mission by dispatching patrol boats and a frigate.
Commission sources said that although it was too early to draw any conclusions on the results of Nautilus II, the first indications were positive for Malta as fewer illegal immigrants arrived on the island in the course of the mission.
In the two phases, between July 1-31 and September 10 to October 14, 2007, a total of 579 illegal immigrants landed in Malta. This was 347 fewer than in the same period last year when a total of 926 immigrants ended up on Maltese shores.
According to European Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini, during the first phase of Nautilus II, over 700 illegal immigrants were intercepted in the Mediterranean and turned back to their point of departure.
The sources said this year's main setback has again been the non-participation of Libya despite being invited to join.
Some 80 per cent of all costs incurred by the AFM for this mission will come from the EU budget. It is expected that Malta will be reimbursed €1 million (Lm429,300) in connection this year's mission.
The Commission has pledged that the patrols will be conducted on a permanent basis as from the beginning of next year.
