This is the video that all the other armed forces are trying to imitate.
It was done by the Royal Dragoon Guards whilst serving in Iraq.

They chose the lead singer who is actually sergant Roger Parr of the Royal Dragoon Guards due to his likeness to the comic Peter Kaye who has a hit single version of this song out in Britain at the moment for the charity comic relief.

It was filmed on a standard camcorder,
then they sent it to the UK Ministry Of Defence (MOD) where it was that popular
that one of the MODs mail servers crashed as demand was so high for it.
It was featured on the BBC news and afterwards the BBC were inundated with people trying to get a copy of it.

British defence ministry computers crash over Iraq soldiers comedy video
16/05 11:29 PM (GMT)

(c) 2005 AFP

LONDON (AFP) - Britain's defence ministry was investigating Tuesday how a spoof video of a comedy pop song by soldiers in Iraq temporarily crashed its computer system last week after too many staff downloaded the clip over the Internet, a spokesman said.

A group of soldiers took time out from their work in the battle-torn country to film a joke version of "(Is This The Way To) Amarillo", featuring comedian Peter Kay, itself a charity remake of the 1970s hit by Tony Christie.

The film, featuring a Kay look-alike Sergeant Roger Parr and a series of side kicks, was emailed back to army friends at home and proved so funny it spread like wildfire around the defence ministry.

"The video is brilliant. Soldiers maintaining their moral on operations is always important," a defence ministry spokesman told AFP.

"The fact that it proved so popular in the office that it caused the system to crash is unfortunate but this did not affect operations and everything is up and running again," he said.

On a serious note, however, the spokesman added: "Our computer people will look at the cause and evaluate what happened."

Images of the four-minute film -- which include Parr, 34, pulling some of Kay's trademark dance moves in front of three portaloos, before the doors of two open to reveal a naked soldier sitting inside each -- were splashed across The Sun tabloid on Tuesday.

Mimicking Kay's march towards the camera, in which he is accompanied by a string of celebrities, Parr stomps through his regiment's camp in al-Faw, southern Iraq, flanked by soldiers dressed in an array of garments from underwear to Iraqi-style robes.

Their video, dubbed "Is This The Way To Armadillo" -- after an animal living in the desert with them -- prompted the defence ministry's crucial computer system to crash for five hours, the Sun reported.

The soldiers behind the film, who are from the Royal Dragoon Guards, recently completed their tour of duty in Iraq and have returned to a base in Germany, the defence ministry spokesman said.

Christie, 61, helped remake "Amarillo", a big hit for him in 1971, for Comic Relief. It enjoyed seven weeks at the top of the British music charts, only being knocked off the slot on May 9.

This is a video response to "Americans are NOT stupid"

This video was NOT MADE TO INSULT BRITISH!!!! I am british myself!!!!!

It is a response, not because the same questions were asked to british people, it is a response because british people were questioned about britain and their general knowlegde, just like in the original video and also because scenes were faked.

there are idiots in every country. its just a popular thing to be hypocritical against america. the other countries don't think and follow like sheep. they say "dumb Americans" because it's the thing to do and to point out the most uneducated Americans.
There is no perfect country. France, Germany, England...they all have idiots.

This video was not made by american people, it was filmed and edited by european people.

From 13 people that were questioned, 12 or so were used in the video.

We tried to film a different age group of people.

4 kids, 1 pair of elderly, 6+ middle aged people.

Two kids in the video knew about the questions and they were in the video for a joke. The other two are aged 14 and 13.
If you say you can't expect them to know how many sides a triangle/square has, it's up to you!

Just because some people don't know the answer to a few questions doesn't make a whole nation stupid!

The purpose of this video is NOT to insult british, it is simply here to prove that neither americans nor british are stupid.

It is also here to prove that a few scenes in the original video were used in a fake way and half of the people actually got the questions right.

Yes we know that "Blare" is spelled "Blair" and we also know that there is no real british car manufacturer anymore, since all of the original british ones have be bought by other countries.

Thank you for making the comments so entertaining :)!!!

Britain's Got Talent

Andrew Johnston

Britain's Got Talent is a British television show on ITV (also on TV3 in Ireland). Presented by Ant & Dec, the talent show premiered on 9 June 2007, and was broadcast daily with a live final on 17 June 2007. It is a search for Britain's next best amateur talent act, featuring singers, dancers, comedians, variety acts, and other talents of all ages. Anyone who believed they have talent was encouraged to audition. The winner of the show received £100,000 and performed at the Royal Variety Performance in front of the Queen and members of the Royal Family at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool.

As Britain's Got Talent returns for its second series, hosts Ant & Dec and judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan once again begin their search for Britain's most talented performer. The second series began on a primetime slot at 19:45 on 12 April and for the remainder of the auditions will continue in this Saturday night slot. Once the semi-finals begin they will be shown daily, like in series one, over one week 26 May - 30 May with the live final on Saturday 31 May.

Format

The series made its début soon after the conclusion of its U.S. counterpart, America's Got Talent, and is the creation of The X Factor and Pop Idol/American Idol mastermind Simon Cowell who has created a Got Talent series across the globe. On 12 February 2007 it was announced by ITV the judges would be Cowell, Piers Morgan (who had also judged America's Got Talent), and Amanda Holden (a late replacement for Cheryl Cole[1]). In a similar fashion to The X Factor, the show has an ITV2 counterpart called Britain's Got More Talent, presented by magician and former CITV presenter, Stephen Mulhern.

The show was originally planned to air much earlier (before America's Got Talent) and be presented by Paul O'Grady. However, after O'Grady's defection to Channel 4 from ITV for The Paul O'Grady Show, O'Grady refused to appear in another ITV show, so the series was put on hold after just one rehearsal show.[2][3]

The audition process is similar to The Gong Show but with the judges pressing buzzers instead of banging a gong. The buzzers can only be pressed once if the judge has seen enough, and when all three are pressed the act must stop. The auditions also include the added twist of having to perform in front of a studio audience alongside the judges. Once the act finishes or is stopped, judges express their opinions and decide whether they would like to see them in the semi-finals, with acts needing to receive a majority vote to go through. The audience is invited to express their views (often boos or cheers) which may have a positive or negative impact on a judge's decision, should the judge be unsure on whether to put the act through.

Mr. Bean is a British comedy television series of 14 half-hour episodes starring Rowan Atkinson as the title character. Different episodes were written by Rowan Atkinson, Robin Driscoll, Richard Curtis and one by Ben Elton. The self-titled first episode was broadcast on 1 January 1990, with the final episode, "Goodnight, Mr. Bean", on 31 October 1995

Based on a character developed by Rowan Atkinson at university, the series followed the exploits of Mr. Bean, described by Atkinson as "a child in a grown man's body",in solving various problems presented by everyday tasks and often causing disruption in the process.

During its five year run the series gained large UK audience figures, including 18.74 million for the 1992 episode "The Trouble With Mr Bean", which was the recipient of a number of international awards, including the Rose d'Or, and has had an enduring effect on popular culture. The show has been sold in over 200 territories worldwide, and has inspired two feature films and an animated cartoon spin-off.

Origins and influences
The character of Mr. Bean was first developed when Rowan Atkinson was studying for his MSc at Oxford University. A sketch featuring the character was being performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in the early 1980s. A similar character called Robert Box, played by Atkinson, appeared in the one-off 1979 ITV sitcom Canned Laughter, which also featured a routine used in the film version. In 1987, one of Mr. Bean's earliest appearances occurred at the "Just For Laughs" comedy festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. When program co-ordinators were scheduling Atkinson into the festival program, Atkinson insisted that he perform on the French-speaking bill rather than the English-speaking program. Having no French dialogue in his act at all, program co-ordinators could not understand why Atkinson wanted to perform on the French bill. As it turned out, Atkinson's act at the festival was a test platform for the Mr. Bean character and Atkinson wanted to see how the silent character's physical comedy would fare on an international stage with a non-English speaking audience.

The name of the character was not decided after the first programme had been produced, with a number of other vegetable-influenced names, such as Mr. Cauliflower, being explored. Rowan Atkinson has cited the earlier comedy character Monsieur Hulot, created by French comedian and director Jacques Tati, as an influence on the character of Mr. Bean. Stylistically, Mr. Bean is also very similar to early silent films, relying purely upon physical comedy, with Mr. Bean speaking very little dialogue. This has allowed the series to be sold worldwide without any significant changes to dialogue.

Characters
Mr. Bean
The title character, played by Rowan Atkinson, is a slow-witted, sometimes ingenious, selfish and generally likable buffoon who brings various unusual schemes and connivances to everyday tasks. He lives alone in his small flat in Highbury, North London, and is almost always seen in his trademark tweed jacket and skinny red tie. Mr. Bean rarely speaks, and when he does it is generally only a few mumbled words. His first name (he names himself "Bean" to others) and profession, if any, are never mentioned, though he has been shown in the first episode to have a strong knowledge of trigonometry. (In the first film adaptation, on his passport "Mr." appears under the "first name" field and he is shown employed as a guard at London's National Gallery. In Mr. Bean's Holiday, "Rowan" is seen on his passport name field

Chariots of Fire - Movie 1981 - Closing Scenes - Eric Liddell ( Ian Charleson ) wins the 400 meter race in the 1924 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. Closing scene with British choir singing "Jerusalem" at the 1978 funeral of Harold Abrahams.

Chariots of Fire

Chariots of Fire is a British film released in 1981. Written by Colin Welland and directed by Hugh Hudson, it is based on the true story of British athletes preparing for and competing in the 1924 Summer Olympics. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four, including Best Picture.

The title is a quotation from the hymn Jerusalem which is a setting of a poem by William Blake. The film's working title was "Running" until Welland saw the scene with the singing of the hymn and decided to change the title.

-

Music

Although the film is a period piece, set in the 1920's, the Academy Award-winning original soundtrack composed by Vangelis uses a modern, 1980's electronic sound with a strong use of synthesizer and piano among other instruments. This was a bold and significant departure from earlier period films which employed sweeping orchestral instrumentals.

The title theme of the film has become iconic and has been used in subsequent films and television shows during slow-motion.

The film also incorporates a traditional work: a British choir singing "Jerusalem" at the 1978 funeral of Harold Abrahams, the event which bookends and presumably inspired the making of the film. Gilbert and Sullivan also features heavily.
