According to the talk of NANNO on her radio program in recently, the arrangement of this tune seems to have taken "In un fiore" (JPN title is "Hana no sasayaki" by Wilma Goich / Hit in 1966) into account by her request.

*Technique called "cutting out" was used for the ending of "Canary". (Like "I want you" by the Beatles in 1969.)

"Canarians of the Mississippi: The Canary Islanders In Louisiana" is the lastest work by Manuel Mora Morales, for his unfinished series "La Ruta del Gofio: History of the Canarian Immigration." The documentary was filmed around the marshes of the Mississippi river in Louisiana, USA in 2005 and 2006. It tells the story of the Canarian Islanders who immigrated to Louisiana in the 18th century in order to establish colonies and to defend Spanish territories from the British and French forces in the area. "Canarians of the Mississippi" is produced by Amazonas Films and is being released in Spanish and English versions.
To this day there are descendants of the first Canarian immigrants, known as "islenos," that continue speaking the Castilian language with the same accent as their ancestors. During the last 200 years the islanders have been subject to perhaps the most unusual story of the Canarian Migration; while it is full of unusual tales and events the story of the islanders is the least known inside and outside the archipelago.
Mention could be made of their important contributions to the American War of Independence, the islander battalions under General Lee and their presence in the American congress, as well as other numerous political figures whom have influenced politics in the United States government.
Many traditions and folklore in the islander community that exist today came from the Canary Islands over two centuries ago: music (the decima,) food (the caldo) and folk healing known as Curanderismo.
The documentary also contains historic interviews with islanders as well as antiquated film footage of the great flood of 1927. Canarians of the Mississippi is more significant though for its treatment of the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the Islander community and it's struggle to survive.
While most of the documentary was filmed shortly before the hurricane, Mora Morales returned to Louisiana in 2006 and found that many people and places had disappeared or no longer existed. Many of the films informants have been direct or indirect victims of the Hurricane, including Charles Robin who died in January 2006.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Manuel Mora Morales was born in Canary Islands in 1952. He has spent many years as a writer, editor and filmmaker and is currently President of the Canarian Editors Association. His most important work has been writing and directing the documentary series La Ruta del Gofio: History of the Canarian Migration. The first part of the series has been televised TV several times (Television Autonomica Canaria). Mora Morales is currently still working on the subject of the Canarian migration to the United States.

Malaysian FA Cup Final 2007/2008 -- 21 June 2008, Shah Alam Stadium, Selangor.

Super League champions Kedah beat Selangor to retain FA Cup

Kedah retained the FA Cup title to bag their second silverware of the season when they defeated Selangor 3-2 in the final at the Shah Alam Stadium. Kedah, who fielded nine President's Cup players in the starting line-up, were without their stalwarts - Marlon James and central defender Bernard Huggins -- who are both back at home playing for St Vincent and Grenadines in the Concacaf qualifying rounds of the 2010 World Cup. But Kedah have able replacements in their fleet-footed youngsters who got the goals through Mohd Fadly Baharom (2nd), Mohd Khyril Muhymeen (33rd) and Syafiq Jamal (50th) while Selangor scored through Mohd Amirulhadi Zainal (14th) and substitute Frank Seator (70th pen). It was Selangor's third defeat against Kedah this year. The Canaries, who won the Super League crown had defeated Selangor twice, 6-1 in Alor Star and 1-0 in Shah Alam. The visitors did not take long to settle down and had their fans in a frenzy when Mohd Fadly hit the back of the net in the second minute of the match. Mohd Khyril orchestrated the move from the centre with a defence splitting pass to Badrol Bakhtiar who outpaced his marker before feeding an unmarked Mohd Fadly to tuck the ball home. Kedah could have taken a 2-0 lead 10 minutes later but Mohd Khyril failed to beat Selangor goalkeeper Mohd Suffian Raman after a fine solo run. Selangor bounced back and found the equaliser in the 14th minute. Kedah's central defender Mohd Fazliata Taib made a weak clearance from Ellie Aiboi's cross, which fell onto the path of Mohd Amirulhadi who scored from close range.
Kedah pulled ahead again through Mohd Khyril in the 33rd minute. It was a neat one-two pass with Nelson Martin, which saw Khyril firing from close range giving Selangor custodian Mohd Suffian no chance. Kedah's Syafiq sealed the game when he scored the third goal in the 50th minute before Selangor substitute Frank Seator reduced the deficit from the spot kick in the 70th minute. Kedah were then reduced to 10-man when substitute Sabri Abu barely 10 minutes into play was sent off by referee Lee Chong Sheng of Perak in the 75th minute. Kedah lived dangerously playing with 10-man but held on until the final whistle.
