In 1951, residents settled in Sderot hoping for a peaceful and prosperous life. Today residents lives are dictated by sirens and a race of survival from shelter to shelter. Despite the hardships and the harsh reality, residents recall a time when they shopped in Gaza, and Gazans shopped in Sderot.03/11/08

Sderot, is a town of 20,00 jews. Unfortunately, it has become part of their daily lives to be pounded by over 50 rockets a day. The sirens can go off at anytime, at school, in the park, during dinner. Residents have 15 seconds to seek shelter before the rockets hit. Where do you run? Where do you hide? Where is it safe? Some of these videos are from the past two weeks. Sderot, which is only 2 hours from Jerusalem is a regular city, with schools, malls, and restaurants.

The Palestinians and the 22 countries of the arab league have announced an ultimate jihad against Israel. To drive us into the sea. Total annihilation.

Their are teenagers like you and I who have to live with these constant fears. Imagine it was you. Imagine 50 attacks like 9/11 every day. Imagine your life.

En la mañana del miércoles 25 cohetes kasam lanzados por palestinos desde Gaza cayeron sobre Sderot y los poblados aledaños. Esto se suma a los 40 lanzados durante el martes. Según las organizaciones armadas palestinas es en respuesta a las operaciones de Tzáhal en Gaza y a que un comandante de la Jihad en Jenín fue abatido por tropas israelíes.

Rocketboom visits Sderot, Israel on the border of the Gaza Strip

Sunday, June 10, 2007, Doctor Jazz visited Sderot, the Israeli town adjacent to Gaza that is being fired upon from Gaza by terrorists with Kassam rockets. We came to bring some smiles and to let the residents know they are not alone.

We accompanied David Landau of Standing Together, who brought a carload of watermelons to give out free of charge.

The results speak for themselves.

After spending several hours in kindergartens and schools in Sderot, Israel, Doctor Jazz and the crew of Standing Together headed for the center of town to give away watermelon and make some happy music for the people who live in the shadow of the daily Kassam rocket attacks from Gaza.

Kassam rocket attacks have become a daily reality for Sderot residents. Up in arms over the failure of the government to halt the attacks, they express their outrage minutes after a rocket struck the town. While it is clear that the Palestinians have opted to pursue terror rather than peace, the Israeli government should give the green light to the army to operate in the Gaza Strip,and stop the rocket attacks once and for all. 05/07/07.
