Drona is a compelling modern tale of one man's journey through the labyrinths of mystic myths and legendary legacies. As good and evil clash in this contemporary fantasy fable, a fascinating journey unfolds into a world of mythical heroes and malicious magicians with cunning curses. It is a world, where spells can turn flesh to cold stone. It is a world full of thrills, magic and adventures. Directed by Goldie Behl, Drona introduces yet another superhero onto the Bollywood celluloid - Abhishek Bachchan.
Hrithik Roshan was the first actor to play a hero with supernatural powers in the film Krrish. According to reports, Drona is going to be even bigger and better in terms of special effects compared with Rakesh Roshan's Krrish. The majority of the film's shooting has already taken place in Rajasthan and Namibia.
Drona's stars, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra both were trained very hard for their roles. Abhishek Bachchan plays the title character in the film. Priyanka Chopra is enacting Abhishek Bachchan's bodyguard while Kay Kay Menon is acquiring a negative role. Menon's role was first offered to Shiney Ahuja who opted out saying he had date problems. Jaya Bachchan is also starring in the film. Parts of the film were shot in Prague, Czech Republic, Kuchman, Bikaner, Maharashtra, India and Namibia, Africa.
Abhishek and Kay Kay filmed some action packed climax portions for the film at Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan. The action packed scenes consisted of sword fighting and horseback riding. The climax has a brilliantly choreographed fight sequence between Abhishek Bachchan and Kay Kay Menon. Priyanka Chopra too has performed some daredevil stunts and action sequences for the film.
Shyam Kaushal was not the only fight director for Drona. Drona also had award-winning action coordinator Tom Delmar, who has worked on Guy Ritchie's Snatch, and London based sword master Richard Ryan, who trained Brad Pitt and Eric Bana for Troy.
The music for Drona has been done by debutant music duo Dhruv-Ashu. Also Austrian band Bauchklang has been roped in for one of the tracks on the soundtrack.
