Authorities in South Ossetia say Georgian troops have shelled the road being used for evacuating people from the conflict zone, according to Russian Interfax news agency. Attacks are continuing in the South Ossetian region, despite claims from Georgia that it was imposing a ceasefire.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow was receiving reports that villages in South Ossetia were being ethnically cleansed.

"We are receiving reports that a policy of ethnic cleansing was being conducted in villages in South Ossetia, the number of refugees is climbing, the panic is growing, people are trying to save their lives," he said during televised remarks in Moscow from Russia's Foreign Ministry.

Georgian troops launched their offensive to regain control over the South Ossetia.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili accused Russia, which has close ties to the separatists, of bombing Georgian territory.

Studied in Tbilisi concervatory under maestro Sandro Inashvili became a pupular tenor when was chosen by Georgian government to impersonate famous Georgian tenor Vano Saradjishvili(1879-1924) who was then called Nightingale of Georgia.
Became Tbilisi Opera House principal tenor and performed internationaly within the Soviet Block countries.
Partnered Jerome Hines(Faust),Kim Borg(bass), Dorothy Kirsten(Alfredo in "La Traviata") Lia Hubik, Nicolae Herlea and many other internationaly acclaimed singers.
Was among other prominent Georgians invited to USA by Jimmy Carter and recieved honorary Georgian Citizenship(USA).
Named as a People's Artist of Georgia still ocasionally performs at the age of 78.
Honorary member of Georgian Academy of Science and Culture, lives in Tbilisi Georgia.

Darbazi in Toronto, Canada.

Darbazi was founded in the Spring of 1995 in the Toronto home of Alan Gasser, a local proponent of Georgian music, who has been honoured by the Georgian Ministry of Culture as a Silver Medal Laureate for his "profound knowledge of the folk music of Georgia and his role in its popularization around the world".

Darbazi's repertoire, sung with and without instruments, runs the gamut of Georgian social settings and meanings: from songs of the centuries-old hymnody of the Georgian Orthodox Church to drinking and toasting songs traditionally sung at the supra table, from tender songs of homesickness to exuberant dance songs, from ancient healing songs to songs of toil and work, from hypnotic lullabies to rowdy horse riding songs, and of course the ubiquitous love songs.
