Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) Tribute Heath Ledger. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is an upcoming fantasy-adventure mystery film directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam and Charles McKeown. In the film, the leader of a traveling theater troupe, through a deal with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations. Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits and Heath Ledger star in the film, though the death of Ledger midway through filming caused production to be temporarily suspended. Ledger's role was recast with Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell portraying physically changed transformations of Ledger's character as he travels through dimensions. With the rest of production focusing on filming scenes of the troupe's travels through a magical realm, Ledger's role was recast to have new actors portray his "physically transformed versions" in the realm. Depp, Law and Farrell will portray those transformations.

In memory of a beloved actor, brother, and son.

This is how I tip my hat to you.
I already know that about a million people have probably uploaded their own versions of tributes to Heath Ledger, but I wish to put my own creation up here anyways. This is both a statement of the general public, I believe, and also of myself. The movies you see here are ones I have actually seen, so I apologize for not adding items like
Monster's Ball or Brokeback Mountain into the mix. Some of his works are emphasized more than others here, I am aware of that.. but all the same, it is dedicated to this one man.

This here is to Heath Ledger, one of the few actors I've ever really admired and appreciated watching every time. His unfortunate and immediate loss is something no one ever saw coming. To be such a popular actor, even when he was just hitting around 20 with "10 Things I Hate About You," is enough testimony to what he could really do, both on and off-screen.

My heart and thoughts go out to his family and friends right now during this troubling time (the quotes of personal obituary letters are taken from reliable sources, you can check me up on that (I am NOT a member
of the Ledger or connected to them, I can assure you of that.)

Hollywood has lost one of its greatest talents here, and no one can ever replace that lighthearted, feelgood presence that he always seemed to bring no matter who he played as. You can't help but admire him at some point.

True Story about Heath
When he auditioned for The Patriot, he felt that he had messed up so badly that he apologized to the interviewers for wasting both his time and more importantly their time, thanking them and shaking their hands politely and respectfully. He left the room, head down and gave up every hope he had for a chance at the part.

But 3 days later, he received a call that asked him "So hey... How about you come show us what you can REALLY do?"

January 22, 2008 -- Oscar-nominated Australian actor Heath Ledger died today in his SoHo apartment. He was 28.
Unable to wake him, the maid and therapist called 911 at about 3:26. Emergency workers were unable to revive the star and he was pronounced dead at 3:35 p.m.


Ledger's uncle and confidant, Neil Bell, said that his family was "devastated," according to close friend, LA-based private investigator Paul Baressi.

"He said the father and mother are devastated because they found out of his death through the media," said Baressi, who talked to Bell less than a half an hour after Ledger's death.

Locals in the neighborhood said Ledger was low-key.

"We always greeted each other, it's such a shock," said Julie McIntosh, 32, who works in a hair salon on his block.

Ledger split last Sept from partner, Michelle Williams, with whom he has a 2 year old daughter, Matilda.

Ledger's early career as an actor was marked by small roles in several independent features in his home country of Australia.

He broke onto the international movie scene in 1999 with his turn as the brooding high-school heart-throb who captures Julia Stiles' attention in "10 Things I Hate About You." After starring roles in "The Patriot," "A Knight's Tale," and "The Brothers Grimm," Ledger earned critical acclaim with his poignant performance as a gay cattle rancher in director Ang Lee's "Brokeback Mountain," for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.

In 2007, he appeared in the independent film "I'm Not There," as one of many incarnations of Bob Dylan. He recently wrapped filming on 'The Dark Knight,' the sequel to 'Batman Begins,' in which he plays the villainous Joker. His most recent role was in director Terry Gilliam's 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,' which is listed as still "in production" on imdb.com.

Matt Lauer, Larry Hackett, the managing editor of People's Magazine, and Dr. Drew Pinsky discuss Heath Ledger's tragic death on The Today Show. Hackett describes the type of person Ledger was. Dr. Pinsky warns about the speculation surrounding Ledger's death.
