Each November, NJCF and the Delaware River Mill Society honor the memory of the late Donald B. Jones, a former NJCF President and state conservation legend, with the Donald Jones Hike that annually provides some 300 attendees with guided tours of NJCF’s Wickecheoke Creek Preserve. Donald Jones was the driving force behind preserving three historic Hunterdon County properties – New Jersey’s last covered bridge (Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge in Delaware Township), Prallsville Mills in Stockton and the Locktown Stone Church in Delaware Township – which are located along the preserve.

NJCF’s Wickecheoke Creek Preserve, located in the Western Piedmont region in Hunterdon County, follows the course of the beautiful Delaware River tributary, from its headwaters on the Croton Plateau, through its dramatic descent to the Delaware River at Stockton. The Wickecheoke is home to beaver, mink, herons, hawks, turtles, long-tailed salamander and nearly 400 species of native plants. In addition, the Wickecheoke Creek’s waters flow directly into the D&R Canal, which serves as a source of clean drinking water for 1 million people in central New Jersey.

The mission of New Jersey Conservation Foundation is to preserve New Jersey’s land and natural resources for the benefit of all.

New Jersey Conservation Foundation (NJCF) is a private, not-for-profit organization. We rely on philanthropic support and grants from a variety of public and private organizations and individual donors.

Through acquisition and stewardship NJCF protects strategic lands, promotes strong land use policies, and forges partnerships to achieve conservation goals. New Orleans lost more than 100,000 trees in Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Local resident, Monique Pilié, hiked the entire 2175-mile Appalachian Trail in order to raise enough money to plant one tree for every mile she hiked. And so Hike for KaTREEna was born.

The original goal of planting 2175 trees is about to be met. Whats next? Hike for KaTREEna's new goal: 100,000 trees.

"Walking With Angels"
Angels Landing - Zion National Park, Utah

On August 3, 2007 - myself, Jonathan Paula, and close friend Ezra Horne embarked on a trek straight up the side of one of Utah's most beautiful mountains - Angels Landing. Located in pristine Zion National Park near the south-western corner of Utah. We filmed this entire video ourselves using a small tripod often doubling back to get the necessary shots. (Yes, I did indeed climb up Walter's Wiggle twice)

More than 2,000 protesters marched through Kuala Lumpur Friday (13 June) in the biggest public show of anger over the government's decision to dramatically raise fuel prices.

The walkway has now gone many years without maintenance, and is in a highly deteriorated and dangerous state. It is one meter (3 feet) in width, and is over 200 meters (700 feet) above the river. Nearly all of the path has no handrail. Some parts of the concrete walkway have completely collapsed and all that is remaining is the steel beam originally in place to hold it up and the wire that follows most the path. One can latch onto the wire to keep from falling. Many people have lost their lives on the walkway in recent years. After four people died in two accidents in 1999 and 2000, the local government closed the entrances; however, adventurous tourists still find their way into the walkway.

This is not a video game but gives me some good ideas..Wii anyone?

The construction of this walkway lasted 4 years and was finished in 1905. The walkway has now gone many years without maintenance, and is in a highly deteriorated and dangerous state. After a four people died in 2000 (and several prior) the local government closed the entrances. Adventurous tourists still find their way into the walkway. I'm not the author of this video

First of all: excuse the poor music, please! This video shows (the flight to and) the trek from Lukla (2,800 metres) to Mt. Everest basecamp (5,300 metres) and Kala Pattar (5,600 metres) in Khumbu Himal, Nepal. It's a combination of film footage and photos. I went there in Spring 2006.

On New Years Eve (2008), I went into Osaka and met another You Tuber, "SpyderMurphy" for a hike. He took me to Mt. Ikoma which is between Osaka and Nara Prefecture. It was a great hike with a few odd sights along the way!

Troop 78's trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in the mountains of New Mexico, July, 2006. (Part 1 of 3)

We were crew 2006-710-B1, and we hiked Trek #6 (just under 60 miles, I think). Nobody in our crew had ever been to Philmont before, so we were all newbies. But we all made it back alive, and it was a fantastic trip!

And we really lucked out, because we only had about half an hour of rain (just sprinkles, really) during our whole 11 day trek. (Then it rained pretty hard for most of the evening after we made it back to base camp.)

Video shot with my tiny little Canon Elura 100. On the trail for 11 days, and no place to recharge during that time, so I carried a total of five batteries with me, and rationed them carefully so I wouldn't run out before we finished the hike.

I highly recommend the experience for anybody that has the opportunity to go. But let me warn you: this video makes it all look easy, but in reality it is a lot of hard work. But it's worth it!
