UPDATE:

Jamie Heward was released from Sibley Memorial Hospital with a concussion and returned to Tampa Bay. It was there when he realized that it was Ovechkin who made the hit. Heward called Ovechkin "one of the cleanest players in the NHL." Having played with Ovechkin for two years, Heward agreed that the hit was an accident.

Born on September 23rd, 1957, in the village of Tomance, Municipality of Istok. In October 1989, in Istok, he carried out an attack on Tomislav Babovic, a member of the Serbian State Security, resulting in severe injures, after which, via illegal channels, he left for Sweden where he was granted political asylum. He was sentenced, in absentia, by the District Court in Pec, to 12 years of imprisonment. Beside playing a significant role in the promotion of terrorist activity among the Albanian emigration in western European countries, asking them to support the terrorist activities of Albanians in K&M, Satri, in 1997 and 1998, via Albania, arrived in the region of the Dechani Municipality, where he got in touch with Ramush Haradinaj and joined the organization of diversionary terrorist training of KLA members. In that period, he was appointed commander of KLA in the village of Prilep, Municipality of Dechani. At the beginning of 1999, following a suggestion by Haradinaj, he was appointed assistant commander of the brigade for military police issues and took part in terrorist attacks on the members of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the YA forces in the region of the Istok Municipality where, in an ambush, together with Ziguran Shatri, from the Tomance village, Municipality of Istok, he killed the policeman Selim Adovic. Following the withdrawal of the Serbian Security forces, he formed an illegal terrorist group, made up of former KLA police members, whose task was to murder and exert pressure upon non-Albanian population. This group committed a number of murders, among which, that of Momchilo and Sreten Pumpalovic from Istok, who were abused and tortured before they were killed. He organized and ran the jails where Serbs and Albanians were held in the penitentiary facility of "Dubrava", in the vicinity of Istok.

Born on July 3rd, 1968, in the village of Glodjani, Municipality of Dechani. Suspected to have committed criminal acts of terrorism, association with hostile intentions and the murder of civilians, 108 criminal charges were brought against him. He emigrated to Switzerland in 1989, after which he joined the Foreign Legion in France. In 1996 he completed his diversionary terrorist training. In Albania he took part in establishing the logistics bases in Kuks and Tropoj which he later used, with a group of trustworthy associates, to transport weapons to K&M. In mid-1997, he illegally entered the country and, together with his brothers, Daut and Shkelzen, organized terrorist attacks against the police department in the village of Ranic, Municipality of Dechani, and the village of Ponoševac, Municipality of Djakovica, and on the refugee camps in Junik and Babaloc. At the beginning of 1998, in Glodjani, he formed a diversionary terrorist group which, following his orders, intercepted and threatened the Serbs and Albanians loyal to the Republic of Serbia. This group, headed by the Haradinaj brothers, attacked a police patrol in the village of Glodjani, in which Miodrag Otovic was murdered. In April of the same year, the terrorist group, led by Ramush Haradinaj, established the KLA general staff in Glodjani for Metohija, the members of which became his brothers Daut and Skeljzen, as well as Hilmi Haradinaj, Faton Mehmeti, Rasim Haradinaj, Fadil Nimonaj, Maliq Ndrecaj and others, while Ramush himself was engaged in the promotion and establishment of local general staffs on the overall region of Dechani and Djakovica. At the same time, on his initiative, a special KLA unit was formed in Glodjani, called "Black Eagles", whose commander was Idriz Balaj, aka "Toger". Under the leadership of Ramush Haradinaj, the "Black Eagles" kidnapped and brutally murdered dozens of Serb civilians. A number of bodies were found in the Radonjic Lake and village wells in the Dechani Municipality. After KPC was formed, Haradinaj was appointed Deputy Commander of the commander of KPC, Agim Çeku. Towards the end of 2000, he left KPC and established the ABK party. In order to maintain his influence over KPC, he managed to place his brother Daut as the commander of the 3rd RTG of KPC which carries out the assassinations of Ramushs political rivals. Haradinaj also has close connection within the KPS structure, bearing in mind that a large number of policemen and officers of this formation were active in KLA at the time when Haradinaj was the commander of the KLA general staff in Metohija. Ramush Haradinaj is the most influential criminal in Metohija

President Bush dodges two shoes hurled at him by an Iraqi journalist during news conference; Press Secretary Dana Perino injured in melee

BAGHDAD -- His legacy forever linked to an unpopular war, President George W. Bush visited Iraq under intense security Sunday and declared that a long, hard conflict is necessary to protect the United States and give Iraqis hope.

"The war is not over," he said.

Bush got a size-10 reminder of the fervent opposition to his policies when a man threw two shoes at him -- one after another -- during a news conference with Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

"This is the end!" shouted the man, later identified as Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadiya television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt.

Bush ducked both throws. Neither leader was hit. In Iraqi culture, throwing shoes at someone is a sign of contempt; Iraqis whacked a statue of Saddam Hussein with their shoes after U.S. Marines toppled it to the ground in 2003.

"All I can report," Bush joked of the incident, "is a size 10."

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, however, was hit in the eye with a microphone as security guards scrambled to restrain al-Zeidi.

The U.S. president visited the Iraqi capital just 37 days before he hands the war off to President-elect Barack Obama, who has pledged to end it. The president wanted to highlight a drop in violence in a nation still riven by ethnic strife and to celebrate a recent U.S.-Iraq security agreement, which calls for U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2011.

BEIJING (AP) — A Cuban taekwondo athlete and his coach were banned for life after Angel Matos kicked the referee in the face following his bronze-medal match disqualification.

Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez offered no apology for Matos' actions during the men's over-80 kg (176 pounds) match.

Matos was winning 3-2, with 1:02 in the second round, when he fell to the mat after being hit by his opponent, Kazakhstan's Arman Chilmanov. He was sitting there, awaiting medical attention, when he was disqualified for taking too much injury time. Fighters get one minute, and Matos was disqualified when his time ran out.

Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge, then pushed and kicked referee Chakir Chelbat of Sweden. Matos then spat on the floor and was escorted out.

"He was too strict," Gonzalez said, referring to the decision to disqualify Matos. Afterward, he charged the match was fixed, accusing the Kazakhs of offering him money.

"This is a strong violation of the spirit of taekwondo and the Olympic Games. The sanctions are the following and are effective immediately: Lifetime ban of the coach and athlete in all championships sanctioned by the (World Taekwondo Federation) and at the same time, all records of this athlete at the Beijing Games will immediately be erased," said the announcer, reading a WTF release.

In his first match, Matos defeated Italy's Leonardo Basile, then beat China's Liu Xiaobo 2-1 in the quarterfinals. But he lost to South Korean Cha Dong-min in the semis to land in the bronze-medal match.

"To me it was obvious he was unable to continue," Chilmanov said. "His toe on his left foot was broken."

Matos won the gold medal in this division at the 2000 Sydney Games, dedicating the victory to his mother, who died on the day of the opening ceremony. At the 2004 Athens Games, he finished 11th.

Matos' tantrum followed a day of confusion on the mats.

Earlier Saturday, China's double gold medalist Chen Zhong crashed out in the quarterfinals after initially being declared the winner.

The day was rife with upsets.

Working her way through the easier of the two pools, Norway's relatively unheralded Nina Solheim won her first two bouts with a comfortable point margin and defeated 2005 world champion Natalia Falavigna of Brazil in the semis to meet world champion Maria del Rosario Espinoza of Mexico for the over 67-kg (147.4 pounds) title.

Espinoza won the final handily, going ahead in the first round and never falling behind. The final score was 4-1.

She had her hands full getting through the quarters 4-2 against Sweden's Karolina Kedzierska, who launched several high kicks that did not connect. Espinoza then took on Britain's Sarah Stevenson, the 2006 European champion, in the semis. Espinoza dominated the match, earning her final berth with a 4-1 win.

Espinoza was to fight Chen in the semis, but the judges overturned an earlier ruling and made Stevenson the winner of the quarterfinal bout in which Chen scored in the closing seconds of the second round and then Stevenson tagged her with a head kick — worth two points — in the third.

The judges ruled Stevenson's kick wasn't solid enough for points, and Chen was declared the winner 1-0. After Britain protested, and the result was changed to put Stevenson in the semifinal.

The decision brought loud jeers from the crowd. China did not appeal.

It was the first time a match result has been overturned since taekwondo became an official Olympic sport in 1990.

"I obviously had scored. I don't know if they weren't watching or what," Stevenson said. "That's one of the things I hate about this sport."

Stevenson won bronze, along with Brazil's Falavigna.

Cha made it four-for-four gold medals for South Korea. In taekwondo, countries are allowed to enter only four athletes.

Cha fell behind when Alexandros Nikolaidis of Greece nailed him with a head kick 15 seconds into the bout. But he came back with a body kick and a head shot of his own to take back the lead, adding another point to go 4-3 going into the third round.

Nikolaidis evened it out at 4-4 with a body kick, but Cha scored with just 18 seconds left to claim the gold in the men's over-80 kg (176 pounds) division.

Daba Modibo Keita of Mali, the 2007 world champion, was defeated in overtime in the quarterfinals by Nigeria's Chika Yagazie Chukwumerije. The Nigerian then went up against Athens silver medalist Nikolaidis.

Nikolaidis scored with a head kick in the third round, then again in the final second to advance to the final.

The bronzes went to Chilmanov, who beat Matos, and Chukwumerije.

Andray Blatche did what any 21-year-old understudy might do after being told in the morning he would need to take over a starring role that night: He went home to rest up.

Relaxed and ready, Blatche did a fine job filling in for an injured Caron Butler, with plenty of help from Antawn Jamison and others.

Blatche had 19 points and eight rebounds in only his second start of the season, and Jamison finished with 24 points and 20 rebounds Tuesday night, leading the Washington Wizards to a 108-104 overtime victory over the Toronto Raptors.

"I knew I had to bring it, because Caron's are big shoes to fill," Blatche said. "After hitting my first shot, I knew I was going to be rolling."

Chris Bosh led the way with 37 points and 12 rebounds for the Raptors, who trailed by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter. Anthony Parker's high-arching three-pointer curled into the net as the regulation buzzer sounded, forcing the extra period.

"A tough shot," Jamison acknowledged. "A phenomenal shot."

A bit stunned, the Wizards went to the sideline not with heads hung low, but yelling at each other that they were still going to win. And with Jamison scoring five points in overtime, and DeShawn Stevenson making a key three-pointer, the Wizards did just that in a thrilling back-and-forth game.

"It was like a knockout punch to the head," Washington coach Eddie Jordan said, "and we stood our ground and kept our composure."

It was only Washington's fifth victory in 21 games without Butler over the past two seasons. The forward, like Jamison hoping to be among the all-star reserves announced Thursday, strained his left hip flexor when he fell during an overtime loss at Milwaukee on Sunday.

So Butler was on the sideline in a suit and tie, high-fiving fans after Stevenson's fifth three-pointer of the game put the Wizards ahead 104-98 in overtime. Bosh answered with a three, but Jamison's tip-in put Washington back up 106-101. After Jason Kapono's three with 5.2 seconds to go pulled Toronto within 106-104, Antonio Daniels went 2-for-2 from the line with 4.9 seconds on the clock.

Already managing to play well without Gilbert Arenas since November, the Wizards simply carried on Tuesday, with contributions from all over: Stevenson's 20 points, Daniels' 15, reserve Roger Mason Jr.'s 13 points and six assists, rookie Dominic McGuire's 10 rebounds.

Overall, the Wizards held a 57-44 edge on the boards.

"There's no excuse for not rebounding," Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said.

"When we lose games, most of the time, that's part of it," he said. "It's not just one guy. It's all of us on the team. I don't know where we're going to find it from. We've got to learn to box out."

Bosh helped the Raptors _ who had won seven of their past nine games _ build a lead of as many as 10 points in the first half. But paced by Blatche, Washington opened the second half with a 14-0 run to go up 60-50 and never trailed the rest of the way.

The Wizards tightened their defence during that early second-half stretch: The Raptors started the quarter with four missed shots, two turnovers, an offensive foul and a shot-clock violation.

At the other end, Blatche was exerting himself. The third-year player, who went straight to the NBA from high school, made his second three-pointer of the season to put the Wizards ahead 56-50. Then he finished a strong drive with a pretty finger-roll layup to make it 58-50. And he capped his personal show by sinking an 18-foot jumper.

That last one got Butler up out of his seat, waving his hands to implore the crowd of 12,905 to cheer louder.
