One of his sons, my great grandfather, Abdul moved to Idaho , homesteaded, raised a family, and faced the depression At one time sent back a dollar and change to Ezra to prevent government confiscation of his farm for a dollar and change



Many of Abduls sons went to Europe and the Fareast to fight fascism in WWII One spent years in Nazi POW camps, barely surviving Another, my grandfather, homesteaded, raised a family and struggled through decades of lean times marked by hard labor and few worldly possessions



Another side of the family boasts the first white child born in the Oregon Idaho Territories , who braved hostile renegades, raised on the frontier, and married into a family who moved from the Oklahoma territories on foot with push carts, later becoming the first National Forest Ranger in central Idaho This woman gave birth high in the mountains far from civilization and in order to keep this baby alive, husband many days away on duty, had to catch and milk a wild range beef cow



These men and women face life threatening conditions day in and day out in order to raise their families and wrestle a living in a world full of trials and tribulations



They thought nothing of it; they did not consider themselves poor though bereft of material belongings They knew they must meet the troubles life put before them for failure was not an option They thought nothing of it for they were Americans borne of pioneer stock They never gave a moments thought to someone else providing for them They knew they were Americans and they would meet whatever challenges met on their path



I am telling you this because you and I are Americans too

With the credit crisis continuing to worsen, the US federal government is pledging a seemingly endless amount of money to shore up failing institutions hit hard by toxic assets. Federal government pledges now top $8 trillion with the most recent $800 billion announced Tuesday. The Real News Network spoke to journalist and author Nomi Prins.

Zeitgeist: Addendum, a 2008 documentary film produced by Peter Joseph, is a continuation of the film Zeitgeist, the Movie.[1] The film discusses the Federal Reserve System in the United States, the CIA, corporate America, other government and financial institutions, and even religion, concluding that they are all corrupt institutions detrimental to humanity and are in need of replacement. The film advocates "The Venus Project" as a possible solution.
According to director Peter Joseph, the film "attempts to locate the root causes of this pervasive social corruption, while offering a solution".[2] In its conclusion, Addendum stresses the need for belief systems to embrace the ideas of emergence and interdependence. He outlines concrete steps that can be taken to weaken the monetary system.[3] The film suggests actions for "social transformation", which include boycotts of the large banks that make up the Federal Reserve System, the mainstream media, the military, and energy companies. It is also suggested that people reject the political structure.

Zeitgeist: Addendum premiered at the 5th Annual Artivist Film Festival in Los Angeles, California on October 2, 2008, and was released free online on October 4, 2008.[4]

Synopsis
Zeitgeist: Addendum is separated into four parts:
Part I criticizes the practice of Fractional-reserve banking and criticizes the creation of money through loans. The film's argument goes as following: Dollar bills get printed, or the money supply is increased, when the Fed buys Treasury Bonds. This money ends up in commercial banks. Then, once that money becomes a reserve in banks, it becomes "multiplied" through the Fractional-reserve system, and then loaned to customers. The film claims that such a system is "absurd" because the Interest that must be paid for the money that was loaned does not exist; it was never created. The film compares this system to a game of musical chairs, in which a person will always be left-out. The film does not attempt to go in detail to explain all that is involved with money and banking, but tries to explain the most basic aspect of the monetary system. This subject is also touched in the first Zeitgeist film.
Part II is a documentary style interview with John Perkins, in which he describes his role as a self-described Economic Hitman (EHM). He claims he helped CIA and the ruling political/corporate elites who have worked to undermine legitimate foreign regimes that put the interests of their populations before those of transnational corporations.
Part III describes The Venus Project, a proposal created by Jacque Fresco. The film promotes the Venus Project as a sustainable solution for mankind on Earth. Its main goal is to produce a "resource-based economy" using modern technology.
Part IV states that everything wrong with the world is "fundamentally the result of a collective ignorance of two of the most basic insights humans can have about reality -- the 'emergent' and 'symbiotic' aspects of natural law."
The film then suggests actions for "social transformation," such as boycotts of large banks, the mainstream media, the military and energy companies; rejecting the political structure; and "creating critical mass."
On October 2, 2008 the film won the "Artivist Spirit Award - Best Feature" at the 2008 Artivist Film Festival. The film had its global premiere during the festival's opening night, which was attended by a sold-out audience of 600 people.[2] Festival co-founder Dr. Bettina Wolff stated:

With the big guns in the financial services industry in turmoil, its a good time to ask hard questions about the nature of our finance system. Does bigger always mean better? Or does small-scale "relationship" banking, in which individual savers and borrowers are members of the same community, help to make a better banking sector? Community banks and credit unions were regarded until recently as vestigial players in a new world of global consumer finance. But today they arent merely doing well; they also seem to have a lot to offer.

In this event, New America and the Washington Monthly explore ways to encourage the health and number of small-scale financial institutions as a means of thwarting the tendency toward excessive consolidation in financial services and restoring a mutuality of interest between borrowers and lenders. By encouraging thrift, responsibility, and a sense of community, small-scale financial institutions could play a leading role in digging out from the current recession and avoiding the next one.

It's ironic that amidst waves of bank employee layoffs, talent retention would be a concern among merging financial institutions. But keeping top talent is a key piece of the synergy puzzle for Bank of America, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Barclays plc and other acquiring banks. In this edition of Inside the Deal, Jess Varughese, a managing partner of the financial services consulting firm Milestone, tells Suzanne Stevens that even in these challenging times, banks will have to work hard to keep the most productive bankers from leaving.

The institutions were originally put in place with the purpose of rehabilitating prostitutes, who frequently had no job skills, or could otherwise not find other work outside of prostitution. Over time however, these institutions became places of widespread abuse, with unwed-mothers, mentally challenged, or even abused girls, being sent there unjustly by their families, often for the rest of their lives. This film, directed by Peter Mullen, tells the story of four such girls.

We believed that the top priority of our government should be to make certain that U.S. banks are the strongest in the world; that our lending institutions have the capital they need to keep small businesses going and to provide consumers access to credit. At the most basic level, we sought to establish confidence that our banks are a safe place to put money.

Handing over $700 billion to the Secretary of the Treasury is not the best way to accomplish this goal. The most effective way to shore up our banks is to have the Federal Reserve work with struggling institutions and to infuse them with cash.

The Wall Street bailout bill is a lot of things -- a giveaway, a heist, a legislative manifestation of crony corruption. But it's structure is pure authoritarian capitalism. Whether you think handing over $700 billion to speculators will help our economy or not (and many economists believe it will hurt it), it is undeniable that this bill vests authoritarian power in the hands of the Treasury Secretary -- and that is a radical departure from the fundamental tenets of our democracy.

What has differentiated America from other countries is our reliance on institutions rather than individuals. When we have faced crises, we have built institutions (think about the alphabet soup agencies out of the New Deal), not czars. That's what democracies do - they build nations of laws and institutions, not cults of personality.

This is clearly changing now. We saw Paul Bremer appointed monarch of Iraq after the invasion and we see Congress about to hand over its power of the purse to Henry Paulson so that he can be the financial despot, free to buy and sell whatever securities he feels like, with almost no oversight.

Perhaps this reflects a wider trend. We have become a country that has one national religion: presidentialism. That's the religion that says the president is an all-powerful deity - and the Oval Office is a position that is the only one that matters. That this outlook is fundamentally undemocratic and offensive to the principles of our Founding Fathers seems completely forgotten. We have embraced czarism with the zeal of cult worshipers -- and now this zeal has global economic forces at its back.

We are trying to economically compete with anti-democratic forces that can make financial decisions without any public input at all. As we saw with the debate over the bailout bill, the transnational corporate elite tell us our democracy and its careful deliberations are hurting our ability to make quick decisions in this global market -- and therefore that democracy must be subverted to the will of capitalism. Thus, a bill is rushed through Congress in a week that hands 5 percent of our entire economy to one man, Hank Paulson...Capitalism is trying to euthanize democracy in the name of economic competitiveness -- and that is going to make this country a very different -- and in my opinion, a much scarier -- one from what it once was.

All presidential campaigns over-promise. But the perception that Obama must radically pare back his ambitious spending proposals--a perception widely shared in Washington--makes several fundamental errors. For one thing, it misunderstands the nature of a Wall Street "bailout"--which, properly constructed, shouldn't seriously deplete federal funds. More important, the conventional analysis ignores the fact that we face deep economic problems besides the financial crisis--problems that only government can fix. The case for Obama's spending agenda hasn't suddenly become weaker. If anything, it's actually grown a bit stronger...the culprit behind the rising cost of Medicare and Medicaid is the overall price of medical care, which the federal government currently has limited power to control. Ultimately, the only hope lies in a comprehensive reform of health care--one that reduces expensive over-treatment while creating a unified system in which it's possible for the government to exert more pricing power. And, while a reform like Obama's might not accomplish that right away, it would take the essential first steps.

Another way to prepare for future financial obligations is to help the economy grow faster, which would increase tax revenue and make the government's debt seem smaller by comparison. But, over the last decade, we've spent too little on educating our workforce and developing infrastructure essential to growth. We've also been too slow to focus on energy independence. It's imperative to make up for that neglect now, particularly given what's happened on Wall Street.

Obama would do well to remind them that their party has pursued different priorities before. Back in 1932, Franklin Roosevelt promised a balanced budget, then presided over one of the most famous federal spending binges in history. That turned out well, both for the party and the nation. There's no reason it can't happen again.

In most asylums, the inmates were required to undertake hard physical labour such as laundry work. In Ireland, such asylums were known as Magdalene Laundries. Philip is married with two children, has a Masters Degree in Strategic Marketing and 9 diploma's ranging from Personnel Management through to Holistic Medicine and the craft of Etymology. He has come from a humble background and is self-made. Although he has been asked on numerous occasions to become "a member" of several institutions, Philip has strictly refused on the grounds of independence -- seeing membership of certain organizations as being overtly influential on his research and understanding of the truths of mankind. Philip believes that some authors/researchers have been lead into membership of institutions or "societies" and are therefore of questionable authority. His background in the history of propaganda and the ancient and ongoing manipulation of mankind tell him that such things do indeed occur. He has however joined (upon being requested) a couple of what are known as secret societies in-order to find out what was happening inside -- the conclusions of these journalistic forays appear in his books and he is no longer a member of any organization.

Before retiring to dedicate his time to researching and writing, Philip was a Marketing Director and owner of a company in the UK. Part of this role included giving lectures on the art and history of marketing and propaganda to various organizations including certain government bodies and companies.

Philip has acted as an advisor to various other authors regarding mythology and history.

In his book "The Shining Ones" he set about proving a theory discovered regarding an ancient priesthood calling themselves The Shining Ones who have developed into the worlds most powerful secret society. Philip uses history, mythology, symbolism and his own expertise of propaganda to prove his theories. He appeared on over 200 radio programs, TV and in the general media during this launch.

Currently Philip is being promoted to the USA audience with television, radio and producers booking him for various "Da Vinci Code" style chat shows and documentaries. Philip recently launched to the world his discovery on the Holy Grail in a book called The Serpent Grail and also a discovery on the Temple of Solomon in his new book Gnosis: The Secret of Solomon's Temple Revealed. He has already written two further books due for release 2007/2008 entitled, Gateway to the Otherworld and The Ark, The Shroud and Mary.

Almost every week Philip appears on radio somewhere in the world and certainly every month he has articles published in magazines, from Kindred Spirit, Dark Wisdom and Nexus to Fortean Times and Subrosa. He regularly lectures across the world in a range of locations and genres from Pagan moots to Universities and in March he will be giving a prestigious lecture at Plymouth University followed by a series of expert appearances at such venues as Crop Circle Seminars to Templar Conferences.
